The ancient Chinese people created great civilization with their own hard-working and intelligence in the Tang dynasty, and the most glorious ones were poems and calligraphic works, which are passed down from one generation to another and become priceless treasures of the Chinese people.

Literature The most outstanding achievement was poetry in the Tang dynasty (618-907) with a number of famous poets emerging since Chen Zi'ang and "the Four-Talented Poets " (Yang Jiong, Lu Zhaoling, Wang Bo, Luo Binwang), including Li Bai, Du Fu, Cen Shen and Wang Wei from its flourishing period, Li He, Han Yu and Bai Juyi from its middle period and Li Shangyin and Du Mu from its later period, whose poetic styles varied from one to another.
As far as the Tang poems were concerned, some were with regard to the fantasyland, some had a close relationship with the real world and some were with respect to the poets' inner feeling, all of which added much luster to the Tang Empire's literature, known to the public as masterpieces of ancient Chinese literature.
Under the influence of the Tang poems, many famous poets from the Song (960-1279), the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing (1644-1911) dynasties wrote numerous excellent poems, which were not as good as the Tang poems on the whole, so the Tang poetry became an insuperable peak for the later generations.

Painting The religious elements from Western Regions were absorbed by the artists in painting technique in early Tang dynasty, when Yan Liben and Yan Lide were very good at figure paintings.
Wu Daozi was titled "the Painting Master" for his landscape paintings and figure paintings, who absorbed the Western Region painting techniques, giving you the rich three-dimensional feeling in his works.
Zhang Xuan was expert at drawing paintings of the lady figures with his famous painting of the Spring Outgoing of the Lady of Guo State.
The frescoes were very popular in the Tang dynasty, and the ones from Mogao Grottoes and coffin chambers were masterpieces living through out the ages, when the sculpture art was also distinctive from the previous dynasties, and the representative masterpieces were Mogao Grottoes, Longmen Grottoes, Maijishan Grottoes and Binglingshi Grottoes.
The statue of Vairocana Buddha in Longmen Grottoes was greatly admired by the later generations in addition to the Grand Buddha Statue of Leshan Mountain, and large numbers of talented calligraphers were coming to the fore in the Tang dynasty, including Ouyang Xun, Yu Shinan, Liu Gongquan, Yan Zhenqing, Zhang Xu and Huai Su.
