- 1). Measure and pour 1 cup of rolled oats into a blender. Place the lid on the blender and set it on a medium to high setting until the oats turn into a powder. The setting and length of time needed will vary according to the model of blender you use.
- 2). Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the oats. Stir the baking soda into the oats with a long-handled wooden spoon to mix the ingredients. Screw the lid onto the jar in a clockwise direction until tight and shake vigorously to further mix.
- 3). Take your dog to an area that can easily be cleaned because some of the dry shampoo will end up on the floor or ground. Brush your pet's coat with a pet brush to remove any loose dirt or debris.
- 4). Smell your dog's coat to determine if the odor is light or heavy. Sprinkle the dry shampoo evenly on top of your dog's coat. Work it into its fur with your fingers. Allow the dry shampoo to stay on your dog's fur for approximately 20 minutes to one hour, depending on the strength of the odor coming from the coat. The heavier the initial odor of your dog's coat, the longer you will want to leave on the shampoo.
- 5). Brush your dog's fur thoroughly with the pet brush to remove all of the dry shampoo. It's coat should smell much better.
