- Complete the URL in the first text box (i.e. "username.tumblr.com/about"), and enter a page title. "Standard Layout" is the default option in the Page Type drop-down menu. Standard layouts will use whatever theme you have chosen for your Tumblr blog, and they will change whenever you change that theme. You can enter the content of your page in the rich text editor -- just like with your posts -- using the same commands as a word processor. For example, you would hold "Ctrl" and the "B" to create bold text and "Ctrl" and the "I" key to italicize. Add images by clicking the "Upload Images" button on the right, above the text editor. If you want this page to have a visible link on your Tumblr page, click the check box beside "Show a link to this page" and enter a title for your link.
- When you select "Custom Layout" from the page type drop-down menu, you'll only have two fields for your page: the URL field and the HTML editor. Custom pages do not use your Tumblr layout and must be built top-to-bottom, from the layout to the text formatting. This gives you a great deal of freedom to add content to your blog without any present or constraints. You can also set links to custom pages to appear on your blog.
- Redirect pages do exactly what they say in their name. They use the URL set in the page URL box to redirect to any other page on the web. You can use this to create a shorter link for a URL, or to create a link on your Tumblr page to another site or page. For instance, if you wanted to set a redirect link to Facebook on your Tumblr sidebar, you could enter the URL as "username.tumblr.com/facebook" and paste your Facebook profile URL in the "Redirect to" box. Select "Show a Link to this Page" and name your link. If you want to create a page for the tag called "My Art," you could set the URL to "username.tumblr.com/myart" and enter the tag URL of "username.tumblr.com/tagged/my+art."
- Pages can be edited from the Tumblr customization page, located at tumblr.com/customize. Click the "Pages" menu on the top bar, and click the "Edit" button beside the page you want to modify. You can also click the "X" beside a page to remove it from your page list. Click "Add a Page" at the bottom of the menu to create a new page on your blog.
