How to Clean a Maytag Oven

Preparing the Oven

1). Open the door and take out any cookware that is inside the Maytag oven.
2). Remove the metal racks and set them aside.
3). Wipe down the door gasket with household detergent and water while you have the door open. Clean up any large messes that are inside the oven.

1). Shut and lock the oven door. Make sure the oven light is off before starting the self-cleaning cycle.
2). Start the self-cleaning process by pressing the "Clean" button. Adjust the timer by using the up and down arrows on the control panel. Increase the amount of cleaning time if the oven is messier than usual or decrease the time if the oven does not need an extensive cleaning.
3). Wait for the self-cleaning cycle to finish and the door to unlock. Allow the oven to cool off for an extra 30 minutes to one hour before opening the door.
4). Use a damp rag to clean off any ash or residue that may be left inside the oven. Replace the cooking racks and close the door.
