- 1). Remove the top attachment screw on the lantern and lift off the metal housing cap. Carefully remove the glass cylinder.
- 2). Spray glass cleaner on the cylinder and scrub it down. Use several coats of the cleaner to remove yellowing soot or build-up on the glass surface. Set the cylinder aside once it is clean.
- 3). Scrub the green-metal surfaces with fine sandpaper to remove excess rust and build-up. Spray the metal with rust remover and wipe it off with paper towels.
- 4). Unscrew the old fuel pump and cap from the fuel valve. Discard the old fuel pump and screw the new fuel pump/cap housing into the valve. Replacement fuel pumps are available through Coleman.
- 5). Position the lantern on top of newspapers that have been spread on the ground. Paint the green-metal portions of the lantern with the outdoor paint and allow it to dry.
- 6). Cut off the old wicks and remove the attachment threads found at the wick necks. Place the new wicks over the attachment neck and tie them off with new wick strings. Use a simple slip knot to secure the wicks to the necks.
- 7). Place the glass cylinder back into the housing; place the metal top back on the lantern. Turn the set screw in a clockwise motion until it is tight.
