camerontradingpost.com - President Taft established Navajo National Monument in 1909 for the purpose of preserving three 13th century cliff dwellings. You can visit two of them in the company of a guide from the National Park Service. The third is too fragile for visitors and is closed. Reach the monument by driving north on Route 160 and then following State Highway 564 to its end. RVs of 28 feet or less are welcome to use two campgrounds within the monument. There are 48 rustic sites that do not supply hookups. Drinking water is available. Camping and guided tours are free. The campgrounds provide access to three self-guided hiking trails, as well as a visitor center and museum. The monument is open year-round with longer hours during the summer season.
