- 1). Turn off any electricity going to the halogen flood light. Locate the circuit breaker or fuse for the flood light and turn off the breaker or remove the fuse. Let the flood light cool before removing it.
- 2). Use a ladder to climb to the location where the halogen flood light is located. Secure the ladder before climbing.
- 3). Use a screwdriver to remove any screws holding a cover over the flood light if a cover is present. Remove the cover or if it is on hinges, swing the cover to the side or place it upright.
- 4). Look at how the halogen light bulb is seated in the light socket--the bulb may be seated between two metal spring-loaded sockets or in a screw-in socket.
- 5). Place a cloth or soft tissue over the halogen light bulb.
- 6). Gently pull one of the metal spring-loaded sockets away from the light bulb if the bulb is in a spring-loaded socket or unscrew the halogen light bulb in a counter clockwise motion.
- 7). Pull the halogen light bulb gently from the spring-loaded socket or continue to unscrew the light bulb until it separates from screw-in light socket.
- 8). Place the old halogen light bulb in your shirt pocket, jacket or other secure place until you can place it in a plastic bag and dispose of it in your household/business trash can.
