- 1). Measure the inside length of the bench from the inside of one rolled arm to the other. Add 1 inch. Measure from the floor to the top of the bench cushion and multiply by 2. Measure the short width of the cushion across the top and add 1 inch for seams. Cut muslin fabric.
- 2). Place the muslin centered on the bench and fold back each end (where the fabric touches the inside of the rolled arm) 1/2 inch for seams. Place pins to hold the fabric in place.
- 3). Measure from the top corner of the rolled arm to the floor and add 1 inch. Measure the widest part of the rolled arm and add 1 inch. Cut the muslin. Pin the muslin to the face of the rolled arm (this is facing you) so that the length touches the floor and the width is wider than the widest part of the arm and centered. Draw the shape of the face, staying 1/2 inch above the fabric on all sides (for seams). Cut the muslin.
- 4). Hold the cut muslin up to each of the four facing ends of the rolled arms to check and make sure the muslin will fit each face. Using the cut muslin as a pattern, cut three more pieces of muslin the same size.
- 5). Measure from the top of the seat cushion, across the top of the rolled arm and down to the floor. Add 1 inch for seams. Measure the width (from front to back) of the rolled arm and add 1 inch. Cut two muslin pieces.
- 6). Position a muslin arm piece over the arm so that the edge aligns with the 1/2-inch seam allowance on the cushion edge. Pin along the top side of the cushion for a 1/2-inch seam. Repeat for the other arm. Position a face piece and pin for a 1/2-inch seam on all sides except the floor. This will connect the face piece with the rolled arm piece and the bench cushion piece. Repeat this for all four faces.
- 7). Trim your slipcover so that it fits the bench well. Mark 1/2-inch seam allowance on the muslin with pencil. Label your pieces if you need to. Remove your slipcover pattern. Remove your pins. Place your pattern over your finish fabric and cut out your slipcover. Sew your slipcover (face sides together) using 1/2-inch seams. Turn your fabric right side out and fit onto your bench. Trim for your bottom hem if necessary.
- 8). Hem the bottom skirt of the slipcover. Iron your seams and hems and put your slipcover in place.
