His life at Athletics was not without hiccups but he is best remembered for helping the team win consecutively for three years from 1971 to 1973 when he was elected the Most Valuable Player in the American League. Jackson is also credited with taking the New York Yankees to the World Series championship in 1977 where he became amongst the few players in history to have three home runs in a single game leading to his naming as the Most Valuable Player in that years World Series. The Yankees saw quite good seasons a fete that continued when he joined California Angels in 1982 where he hit 500 homeruns in 1984 before rejoining Athletics in 1987. He was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1993.
