Miramar, Florida is a small city of 112,000 located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Awarded the National Recognition of Tree City, USA for Landscaping and Beautification of the City, Miramar prides itself on community services and ordered development. The city offers more than half a dozen city-funded camps for the youth of Miramar. - Teens of Tomorrow, Sports and Fundamentals and Track-N-Learn are camps offered by the city of Miramar. They are available through Miramar community recreation centers. Camp programs run from June until August on a weekly basis.
Summer Enrichment camp is for children just finished with kindergarten through fifth grade and features guest speakers, craft projects, education and games as well as weekly field and swim trips. This camp is $120 per week.
Teens of Tomorrow is for teens ages 12 thru 16 and has two components. Creative Minds is designed to enhance campers' reading and writing skills. Campers will do journal writing, skits, plays and poetry as well as arts and crafts projects. Champions is for student athletes and features weekly tournament competition play in a variety of sports. Cost is $140 per week.
Sports and Fundamentals Camp is for students from kindergarten to fifth grade. It is designed to teach the history and fundamentals of a variety of sports. It is $125 per week.
Track and Learn is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade who have an interest in track (running). Campers will learn the basics of track events through mini weekly track meets and research in the computer lab. Cost is $125 per week.

ci.miramar.fl.us/summercamp/index.html - Gravity Gymnastics is a gymnastic school offering numerous bilingual (English/Spanish) day camps all year round, including a regular summer camp and Hurricane camp. Hurricane camp is special camp only offered for the weeks after a hurricane has hit land and is offered when schools close to keep children safe and entertained. It is basically the same as regular camp. Some activities include gymnastics, fitness games, board games or a movie, arts and crafts, science and Spanish. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with extended care available. Two snacks are provided by Gravity Gymnastics but you will need to provide a packed lunch and drinks for your child.

Hosted by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Performance Project School of the Arts, this camp is for youth interested in learning musical theater, voice, music, dance, acting and technical production. The campers produce shows such as "Annie Jr.," "Beauty and the Beast," "Oklahoma" and "High School Musical 2." Camp hours run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. but there is day care available from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
