- 1). Lower the armrest to its normal position.
- 2). Grasp the seat fabric around the armrest's base. Push back the seat fabric to expose the rod that attaches the armrest to the seat. You'll see a small metal clip that's shaped like a "U" that's often called a "C" clip.
- 3). Hold the seat fabric back with one hand; with the other, pinch the clip with a pair of needle nose pliers. Pull the clip up and out of its mount.
If you have help, ask your assistant to hold the seat fabric in place while you remove the clip with the needle nose pliers. - 4). Pull the seat armrest straight away from the seat bolster. With the clip removed, it comes off fairly easy, although you may have to wiggle it back and forth a bit.
