- 1). Turn the car off and allow the engine to cool for at least a half hour. Identify where the upper radiator hose is and put the bucket underneath it to catch any liquids that may spill out.
- 2). Loosen the clamps at either end of the pipe to which the hose is attached with the screwdriver.
- 3). Grab where the hose connects to the engine and radiator and firmly twist and pull it off. If necessary, cut off the fittings with the knife. Take the clamps off and pull the hose completely off.
- 4). Spray the pipe and area with a lubricating spray like WD-40, then fit the new hose into place and secure the clamps to hold it firmly in place. Fill the engine with a mixture of half-water, half-antifreeze, then turn on the engine and make sure everything sounds normal.
