If you do some bicep curls at the gym, how much muscle/work are you doing? You are using your bicep, which is a tiny percentage of your entire muscle mass, to lift a weight up and down about 50cm.
Now think about this...
You load a bar up with a weights you feel comfortable with onto the squat rack at the gym.
You position your body under the bar so the bar is resting across your shoulders and the bottom of the back of your neck.
You proceed to take the weight of the bar and step back.
Now you squat down to the ground and push with your legs all that weight plus your own body weight back up to the start position...
For 3 sets of 8 repetitions.
Which one sounds like it will make you work the hardest and sweat the most? Exhibit A is involving a tiny bit of muscle and moving a little weight a small distance.
Exhibit B (Squats) is involving your whole body weight plus the bar of weights all the way to the ground and then back up again.
You want to compile exercises like this into your gym time as well as intense cardio such as cycling, treadmill or running, boxing, stair climbing...
Pretty much anything that uses your whole body and gets you sweating like mad is the absolute best way to lose belly fat.
