- 1). Do more chores. Cleaning is one way that you can make an impact on the daily workload. In addition to cleaning your own room and doing your own laundry, offer to keep the communal spaces clean as well. Clean the guest bathroom, kitchen and living room on weekends, for example. You may even offer to wash the family car as a way to help your parents.
- 2). Help with your younger siblings. Give them their baths at night and help to prepare their clothes for school. Assist them with their homework and take them to and from school on days you are able to. You can even prepare after-school snacks or their lunches for them each day. Doing so can greatly reduce the number of things your parents must do each day.
- 3). Take care of the animals. Clean the cat's litter box or fill the food and water dishes daily. You can also walk the dog as another way to help out at home.
- 4). Prepare food for cooking. Even if you do not cook, you can help out by simply taking the meat out of the freezer or chopping vegetables to prepare them for cooking.
