- 1). Empty and clean every storage area and surface of the bathroom to take stock of all of the items you have and what you really need to keep. Dispose of everyday hygiene items you haven't used in a while, as well as expired medications. Consolidate containers as much as possible.
- 2). Organize all items by catergory, such as "hair products," "cold medications," etc. and/or by frequency of use.
- 3). Purchase drawer dividers, clear plastic bins, shelf organizers, portable totes, and other storage devices to accommodate each category of stored items. Things that you use more often should be the most readily accessible, while less frequently needed items can be stacked in covered bins.
- 4). Use washable plastic totes or caddies to contain cleaning products, and keep them under the sink (unless there are young children in the house). If you'd like to keep everyday items, like cotton swabs and hair ties, on a shelf or on the vanity top, store them in decorative glass containers.
- 5). Considering storing occasional items in enclosed bins in a hallway or bedroom closet near the bathroom, if necessary. Another option is to find the right piece of furniture for adding storage space in the bathroom.
