It was a really dark Saturday night, I was just out with friends. I was already standing in front of my car feeling unbelievably sleepy. I desperately needed to go home, lie on my bed and have a much needed rest. When I reached for my keys inside my purse, I couldn't find it. It was a frustrating situation. Fortunately, I knew how to handle a car lock out. I was able to get out of a potentially dangerous situation.
Here are the things you need to do when you are locked out of your car:
Tennis Ball Trick
This trick is really well, tricky. Get a tennis ball and punch a hole through it to make a vacuum when you press it against the lock. Press it against the keyhole and push real hard to let the pressure be able to push the jammed lock through and lead to a release. It is hard to do since you need to generate the right force for to push the jammed lock.
Hanger and Ruler Trick
If a hanger and a ruler is available, this is claimed to be the most effective trick. Get a hanger and straighten the knob of the same to make it perfectly straight. Slowly push it through the rubber casing between the window and the door above the lock system. The next part will require that you fumble to reach the knob and push it through to the end. Using a steel ruler is a little easier to do. Push the steel ruler against the door, the lock will just eventually open up. Then again, this trick requires you to utilize things that may not be available. This also requires to be learned.
Spare Keys
Really. This is more of a prevention, actually. This is an effective way to avoid getting stressed because of lock outs. You can leave the spare key with a neighbor, or a trusted family member. You can also buy a good magnetic holder and attach it to your car. A magnetic holder includes a combination lock attached so that it won't slip and fall. You just need to make sure that you hide it on a spot that is too obvious.
Get a Locksmith
This one will definitely get you out of a lock out. And this is what I do very time. That Saturday night I called, Locksmith SA TX. They have good reviews on their website and other site directories. You call them up at (210) 679-1764. When choosing a locksmith make sure that they are licensed, insured and that they can be trusted.
Remember this tips when you're locked out of your car because they have proved to be useful to others and to me. Also, remember during emergencies such as this, it is better to stay calm.
