Grants for continuing education students, also often referred to simply as continuing education grants, provide funding for non-traditional age students who are returning to complete a degree they never finished, or even beginning their first degree. These grants help make college possible for many adult students who otherwise wouldn't have a chance. - The P.E.O. (Protect Each Other) is an organization for women that was first founded by seven female students who attended Iowa Wesleyan College in 1869. As of 2010 the organization claims more than 250,000 members, and focuses on providing opportunities for female education. This includes a large program of continuing education grants for women in the United States and Canada who show financial need in order to get or finish a college degree. The PEO continuing education (CE) grant program was started in 1973 and has acted as a major part of the organization's efforts ever since.
- The state of Washington's State Library provides a number of continuing education grants for both individuals and organizations looking to provide resources to help further higher education among librarians and support staff. As of 2010, there are several requirements that must be met for an individual to be eligible for these continuing education grants. The applicant must work at least 10 hours a week or more as a librarian or on a library staff in the state of Washington. In addition to this, the CE program for library staff in Washington is a "matching funds" program, where the state matches 75% of the funds that a student can provide towards their own education.
- The New York Library Association provides grants for continuing education students who are residents of the state of New York and wish to pursue furthering their skills in relation to a library job. The grants here are not for a return to a long term-degree program, but are there to help cover expenses for conferences, week-long classes, weekend seminars, or short-term workshops aimed explicitly at adding skills or improving an individual's ability to do their job.
