- 1). Choose where you will place your wine rack. If you are hanging the rack underneath a cabinet, clear out that cabinet. Make sure that you measure the height below the cabinet and have enough room for the glasses to hang. Also, if you will be doing kitchen work in the area your cabinets take up, make sure that there is room for that as well when measuring. If you will be hanging the rack from a ceiling, use a stud finder to be sure that your rack will be properly anchored. You should also make sure that you can reach the wine glasses when they are needed. Run the stud finder along the ceiling. When it identifies a stud, place a mark using your pencil.
- 2). Measure your glass rack. Measure the area where you will be installing the glass rack. Mark with pencil where you will be installing the glass rack. Make sure your measurements are correct by measuring a second time.
- 3). Drill all holes for your glass rack. To prevent chipping of your cabinetry, place tape over the area you are drilling. If you are installing the glass rack from the ceiling, drilling a hole through a plastic plate and keeping the plate on your drill head will keep dust from spraying in your eyes. Use a drill bit that is a little smaller than the diameter of the screw you will be using.
- 4). Place your glass rack over the holes you have drilled. For cabinet racks, line the holes for screws in your rack with the holes you have drilled. To hold in place, you can use masking tape while you use your screwdriver and screws to fasten the rack to the cabinet. If you are installing a ceiling rack, you will want to enlist an extra pair of hands to help hold the rack up while you affix it to the ceiling using your screwdriver and screws.
- 5). Make sure your rack is stable before placing your stemware into the glass guides. Nothing would be worse than putting all your stemware on the rack and having it come crashing to the ground.
