Summer is hot and sitting through a wedding ceremony even if the wedding vows are tremendous can be a challenge.
So why not make fun fans to hand out to your community? I grew up in the 50s, which was before most places were fully air-conditioned.
Lots of gathering places would have these great cardboard fans.
A few friends, a little creativity and a little glue: you'll have fun fans to put on your wedding guests' seats.
People will be happy to have them.
Make the fans beautiful and they'll be even happier! And now, if the fans are really fun, you've also handled the favor problem.
Also great! What do you need?
People often want to help, but don't know what they can do.
Well, here you are: a real task.
The result will be handsome, the camaraderie, great, and eventually, the wedding guests, very happy! And happy guests are a great thing to have at your wedding and a good start on a great marriage!

- The text for whatever you want to put on a program.
This needs to be a one-page program.
You can tell them what's going on, but they'll live though that.
Why not tell them who the players are? - A shape: Make it a wedding bell or a heart or a circle.
You're going to have to cut them out.
You may want a simple shape! And it shouldn't be too big or it will flop around. - Sticks: your local arts and crafts stores will have them.
- Design for the non-text side: This could be your engagement picture.
It could be a lovely scene.
Or if you and your friends are wildly artsy, you could visit your arts and craft store and get beads and bells and tiny mirrors and ribbons to decorate the board. - Board for the fan: stiff enough to not flop around.
You may want 2 pieces to glue together so that the stick gets hidden when you assemble them. - Clear plastic labels: it'll be easiest if you don't have to print onto the board.
Print on your labels, cut them out, and there you go! (One of your friends has to have a steady enough hand to place the labels!) - Good Scissors: You're going to need scissors and maybe an exacto knife or two.
If you get really elaborate, you may need a jigsaw! - A Surface You Can Cut On: Exacto blades tend to ruin hardwood floors, carpeting and dining room tables!
- A Good Printer: whatever you want to print out needs to be high quality.
- Some Very Game and Fun Friends: Greater love has o friend than they will help their friends do this kind of stuff.
Don't rule out the guys.
Some of them will be very handy with a knife or an exacto blade! Any one you know scrapbooking? - A High-Quality, Easy-To-Use Glue: that doesn't make your head spin!
- Some Good Food: got to keep the worker bees happy!
- Not too much alcohol: They have to work, after all!
