- 1). Hit the ball into the rebounder starting at a distance 15 feet and then move backward until you are 30 feet away. This will help you learn how to hit the ball over the net consistently. You will learn the angle needed to get the ball over the top of a 36-inch net (the height is marked on the rebounder) from a short distance as well as a longer distance.
- 2). Tie a 12-inch by 12-inch square above the 36-inch mark on the net and try to hit the ball into the box consistently. This will help you to become a more accurate tennis player. Take 10 strokes with your forehand and 10 strokes with your back hand. When you can hit the box 6-of-10 times from both sides, you have completed this drill effectively. You will be a more accurate player in your future matches.
- 3). Invert the angle of the rebound net so the ball will careen sharply into the ground. This will force you to run quickly toward the net and be decisive when putting your racket on the ball. This will mimic a net shot by your opponent that requires a quick charge into the net.
- 4). Stand on the right side of the court and hit the ball with your forehand (right-handed player) into the center of the rebounder, so it rebounds to the left side of the court. Sprint to the left side and return the ball to the center with your backhand. Then run back to the right side to return it. This will help you learn to hit the ball more effectively on the move. Completing six consecutive hits will complete this drill effectively.
