How to Repair a GLI Power Amp Rack

    • 1). Check to make sure the amp's power cord is plugged in and that all input cables are connected correctly first.

    • 2). Unplug the amp, remove all cables and set the amp on a table or work bench.

    • 3). Remove the casing screws on each side of the amp with a Phillips screwdriver. There are 10 screws on each side of the case. Set the screws aside and lift the case.

    • 4). Inspect the interior of the amp and look for loose or disconnected components.

    • 5). Plug in the soldering iron. As it heats up, re-connect the loose or disconnected component. If a component has obviously blown or is otherwise damaged, replace it with a new one. For example, if a 10 K ohm resistor has gone bad, install a new resistor of the same resistance value.

    • 6). Hold the solder at the joint or connection where the new component is being installed or where the old component is being re-connected.

    • 7). Press the tip of the soldering iron to the solder to solidify the component connection.

    • 8). Replace the case and its screws. Replace all cables, plug in the amp and turn it on to test it.
