Camping Is the Only Way to See Outback Australia

If you love travelling and camping then you can't possibly go past travelling in camping in Australia. Australia is a land full of possibilities for the person who likes roughing it a little, spending a little time behind the wheel and seeing a wide open land.

Australia is one of the biggest confidence in the world, yet has an extremely small population. Most of the population of Australia clings to the coastline, and the interior of the country, called the "outback" by the locals, is largely uninhabited except for a few population centres.

Not only that but Australia is a stunningly beautiful country, and for the traveller willing to invest a little time and money is one of the best places to visit.

Of course it's not easy. There's large distances involved and you're not likely to see everything in a week. However if you have the time you will have a travelling experience unlike any other.

Of course you can just fly from one city to the next. But doing that you miss the best country. The way to see the best of Australia is to buy or hire a four-wheel-drive, get into the outback, preferably away from civilisation, and go camping.

There's nothing quite like sitting around the campfire in the evening watching a red glowing sunset, roasting your dinner or maybe watching the kangaroos hopping by.

Of course if you go camping you need camping equipment. For a couple the best way to go camping is to use what is called a rooftop tent. A rooftop tent is a fold up canvas tent that lives on the roof of your vehicle on roof racks.

Each evening you fold out your tent, erect a little ladder, fluff up your betting which has spent the day snuggled inside your tent, and you're ready to sleep. In the morning fold it all away again and you're good to go.

Rooftop tents are relatively recent inventions, and are far more user-friendly for a couple than your traditional canvas tent. Packed up on the roof they are out of the way but easily accessible, and are about the most convenient way to carry your accommodation.

Of course if you're travelling with a family this isn't quite as realistic, because even the biggest rooftop tent will not accommodate 4 or 5 people. In this event look for a quality canvas tent or preferably a camper trailer.

A camper trailer is similar to a caravan except that the accommodation is made from canvas and this all folds up into the trailer each morning, and is unfolded at night. A quality camper trailer will have good cooking facilities located in the trailer.

So for larger families park your camper trailer somewhere out of the way, unfold your accommodation for the evening, get cooking and enjoy the scenery.

Of course you can just fly from city to city staying in hotels.
