• A garden tote, complete with a nice set of hand tools for the garden, is a practical choice. Be sure the bag includes tool essentials, such as pruners, shovels, loppers and snips. For added interest, have the bag personalized with mom's name. Gardening gloves are an added benefit during those long arduous hours of pulling weeds. They are available in many styles and fabrics such as canvas or nitrile. Choose a pair that will not only meet your mom's gardening needs but fit her hands, as well. For a really special garden tool, choose a wheelbarrow and fill it with all of your mom's favorite gardening accessories.
  
  

Garden Accessories

• Although mom's garden is gorgeous enough on its own, she will appreciate garden accessories to add a little bit of flair. Both decorative and useful, stepping stones are available in multiple shapes, sizes and colors. Present mom a set, either plain or personalized, for placement in her garden. A water feature can be an added benefit to any garden and provide a serene place for private reflection. If your mom is an herb gardener, choose small ceramic stakes that provide the names of those prized herbs. Select solar-powered garden globes which will provide a soft light and colorful appearance.
  
  

Planters

• Give your mom a number of new planters and pots she can plant flowers or seedlings in, either indoors or out. Terracotta pots are not the only option these days. Planters come in every shape and size imaginable, as well as in every color of the rainbow. Choose colors and styles that will match with the type of garden your mom has, such as a country cottage garden or Japanese garden. Planter materials include copper, plastic, resin and ceramic, so be sure to choose the right fit for your mom and her gardening style.
  
  

Apparel

• If mom spends a lot of time outside in the garden, select a wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun from her face. A garden apron is practical and will get put to good use when mom wears it outside and stuffs it full of her favorite garden tools. If your mom doesn't already have a pair, or even if she does, present her with a pair of garden clogs to protect her feet while wandering through her garden paradise.
  
  

Flowers, Bulbs and Seeds

• If mom is a true gardener, you can't go wrong with flowers, seeds or bulbs she can add to her garden. Select seed packets of her favorite flowers or unusual ones that are compatible with her particular hardiness zone. If your mom's birthday falls in the winter months, give her bulbs that she can force to grow indoors for transplant to her garden at a later date. If it's in the spring or summer, give her plants from the nursery.
