- Gifts do not have to be expensive to be special; thoughtful gifts work just as well.christmas gifts image by Kelly Kane from Fotolia.com
A sister is a very special person in your life so you want to give her a Christmas gift that shows her, which can be done even if you are on a budget. A thoughtful gift does not have to be expensive, just show that you put time into pulling it together. Think back to your childhood for gift ideas and pull out some old pictures of you two together at Christmas time to get the juices flowing. - Give her a childhood toy that you two used to play with. This can be something as simple as a wooden dog with wheels that you pulled around or a book that you used to read every Christmas. If your family had a tradition of reading a certain book at Christmas time, then give her a copy of this book. The thought behind it will show through.
- Get all the old Christmas pictures that you can find and make a scrapbook out of them. Make it chronological, if possible. Include lots of pictures of you two together especially, but also of your family and extended family. For each year write a favorite memory that you shared with your sister that year. Leave a blank page at the end, and take a picture of your sister as she is looking through the scrapbook. Put this picture on the blank page.
- An inexpensive but heartwarming gift is to give a complete meal to your sister, like a soup mix. Think back to when you were kids, or even as adults, and a favorite soup or pasta dish you both liked. For example, if you like bean soup, then get a package of dried beans, put them in a clear, decorative mason jar with a ribbon, and attach a recipe card to the ribbon.
- Give your sister the ingredients needed to make something you used to make as kids. For example, if you made brownies together on rainy days, layer the ingredients needed to make it in a mason jar. Tie a decorative ribbon around the mouth of the jar with the recipe and a small story recalling the fond memories you have of the two of you enjoying these treats. You may already have some of these ingredients in your kitchen, making it even more inexpensive.
