- 1). Avoid opening the dishwasher door during the wash cycle or interrupting the wash cycle, as this will leave water in the tub, making it seem as if the dishwasher is not draining. Always allow the dishwasher to fully complete the wash and drain cycle for proper drainage. If water remains in the tub after a wash cycle, set the dishwasher to "Drain" and then select "Start" to drain the remainder of the water from the tub.
- 2). Locate the disposer knockout plug, found near the drain hose, and ensure it is fitted properly into position. If the knockout plug is loose, the dishwasher may not drain. You may need to siphon the excess water from the tub in order to view the dishwasher components. Use a wet/dry shop vacuum to suction out the remaining water in the tub.
- 3). Ensure the drain hose is not kinked or blocked. Remove possible obstructions and straighten the drain hose.
- 4). Find the food filter in the bottom of the tub and remove the filter. Clean away excess food or debris and rinse the filter with water. Replace in the bottom of the tub.
- 5). Examine the pump assembly for debris that may be causing problems, such as large pieces of glass or food. Clean as necessary. Run the garbage disposal at the sink nearest to the dishwasher to prevent blockages that may force water back up into the dishwasher.
- 6). Contact an authorized service technician if the above steps do not resolve the problem.
