- 1). Park the Accord on a level surface. Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal cable from the battery. Use a lug wrench to loosen the wheel lugs. Do not remove the lugs completely from the wheel.
- 2). Raise the vehicle with a floor jack. Place jack stands underneath all four corners of the vehicle. Remove the lugs from the wheel. Grasp the wheel with both hands and pull it off the axle.
- 3). Use a socket wrench to loosen the top mount bolts and brace bolts without removing them completely. Remove the two bolts holding the brake lines in place on the suspension fork. Remove the bolt holding the top portion of the suspension fork in place.
- 4). Locate the nut and bolt holding the bottom of the fork in place. Place a combination wrench on the nut and use a socket wrench on the bolt to remove it from the fork. Slide the fork from the bottom of the shock.
- 5). Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts from the top mount. Support the suspension prior to removing the last nut. Pull the suspension out of the wheel well of the Accord.
- 6). Locate the metal tabs protruding from the bottom of the spring perch. Run masking tape from of the tabs to the bottom of the shock. Run another piece of masking tape across the top of the mount. This will help align the suspension when it is put together again.
- 7). Use a spring compressor to compress the springs. Remove the top bolt holding the assembly together. Decompress the springs and remove the compressor. Fit the new coilover over the strut and use the spring compressor to compress it. Reattach the assembly and replace the top bolt.
- 8). Insert the suspension back into the wheel well and onto the mounting point. Reinsert the top mount bolts and tighten them to 37 foot-pounds with a torque wrench. Reinsert the suspension fork. Tighten the bottom fork bolt to 47 foot-pounds and the top fork bolt to 32 foot-pounds. Tighten the strut brace bolts to 12 foot-pounds. Reattach the two bolts holding the brake lines in place on the suspension fork.
- 9). Mount the wheel onto the axle and tighten the wheel lugs by hand. Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle. Reconnect the negative terminal cable to the battery and close the hood.
