- 1). Make sure the engine is cool before replacing the coolant. Removing the radiator cap before the engine is cool can lead to injuries from steam and heat.
- 2). Pop the engine hood and look for the radiator. The radiator is a large block located on the driver's side of the vehicle with many hoses running to and from it.
- 3). Use a towel to unscrew the radiator cap. Place the towel over the whole radiator cap, push down the cap and turn to the right.
- 4). Remove the drain bolt located next to the radiator cap with the socket wrench.
- 5). Place a bucket underneath the car next to the radiator cock pin. This pin is on the bottom of the radiator and looks like a large screw with wings to help turn it. Loosen the screw and let the coolant drain out of the car for 10 to 15 minutes until it stops.
- 6). Remove the bucket, screw the cock pin back in tightly. Replace the drain bolt and the radiator cap. Unscrew the cap on the coolant tank which is a clear tank on the passenger-side of the vehicle. Pour in coolant up to the "Cool" fill line. Replace the cap. Close the hood.
