Super, groovy, glorious and keen
They are the greatest warriors
that you have ever seen
In a speck of dust all of them have managed
to stay clean
But the one who sold out has tarnished his name
forevermore, a sign from the raven, a man who they continue
to deplore
In good works they bring fine consciousness about
Saving souls and changing lives, oh what a fairy-tale
it all really is
An army of millions, they clash with their rivals
and despise the heathens so
The great historical precedent millions murdered in his name
Oh what a tragedy it all really is
Some cling to the writings and they interpret them as they will
Selective perception sometimes so difficult to understand
They scatter themselves in groups and often share little with each other
With an open mind you might say that they are merely good and bad
Perhaps like any other group much diversity at hand
No desire to specify their dastardly deeds committed in recent times
as everybody seems to know
But their spirit can be intriguing, some get to the promised land
but it seems to be very few indeed
Stuck in partisan politics they point their fingers at specific passages
They use them to proselytize and defend for they live in another world
garnering strength from bosoms and buddies, perhaps a matter of human nature,
an in group and out group with special effects
Yet the bias is pervasive and so outdated in a modern-day world
So many widespread beliefs, so many opinions and ideas to contend
It might be best to broaden our perspective, as all of us are limited, this is really so
Still it helps to enlarge the picture with dialogue and understanding
For it could be surprising you might share similarities with people you never
thought that you would
Because isolation can do damage, parochialism can be pernicious
and it may lead to the greatest mistakes
Just look around you, terror committed in the name of a god
People who have been taught to believe that they are privileged,
the select the chosen few
Wouldn't it be better to recognize our common humanity and begin to start from there
Medieval warfare is a shame and a crime, let us take a step toward progress
in our riddles and our rhymes, for peace will take us far it is the only real solution
Stand on your feet and offer your hand in love for all of our sisters and brothers,
let's believe we can all begin to ring the bell and hear many of these chimes
