- 1). Drop a handful of ice cubes along with one cup of rock salt down your garbage disposal.
- 2). Slice half of a lemon into thin wedges and drop the wedges down the disposal as well.
- 3). Turn on the tap water so that it is flowing down the garbage disposal.
- 4). Turn on the garbage disposal and allow it to run until you don't hear it grinding anymore. The ice will sharpen the blades, and the lemon wedges will help to deodorize and freshen the smell of the disposal.
