- 1). Remove all grass and weeds within 1-2 feet of the pool using a metal spade shovel. Carefully remove 3-6 inches of top soil to ensure all roots are extricated. Place the grass, weeds, and top soil in a wheel barrel for disposal.
- 2). Rake the shoveled area aggressively using a ridge metal rake. Remove any organic matter that is exposed through the raking process. Any roots or organic debris remaining may facilitate new plant growth.
- 3). Place 3-6 inches of small crushed landscaping rocks around the pool perimeter previously shoveled and raked free of grass and weeds. Evenly distribute the rocks using a metal shovel and rake.
- 4). Inspect the crushed rock demarcation boundary once a month. If grass, weeds, or other growth is observed encroaching from the lawn or coming up through the rocks, immediate removal is required.
