5 Easy Steps in Laying a Lawn Turf

There various ways to transform your lifeless lawn to make it look healthy and green. One of the easiest ways would be to lay a lawn turf. Laying a turf is usually done to beautify your home or raise the sell value of the property. Although it may seem a bit more expensive, than the usual sowing grass seeds, it has its own advantages that could compensate for the price you pay. Ideally, turf laying is best done during autumn or spring seasons. Turf retailers can help you install your new turf, but you can save a few bucks when you do it yourself. Here is how:

1. Prepare the Ground.
Like in any other project you will undertake, preparation is key. Eliminate rocks, weeds, roots, and other items that could obstruct what you will be doing. While you are at it, check pipes for cracks and leakage. Be sure to fix those first.

2. Leveling the Ground Soil.
To level your ground soil, there are a variety of mixes that you can use. You can use mixes that contain coarse sand, sawdust or manure. It is important to mix this on the ground soil to nourish the ground and enhance the growth of the turf that you will lay.

3. Spread the lawn Rolls.
After preparing and leveling the ground, it is then time to spread the lawn rolls. It effectively fit the lawn rolls, make sure you lay the rolls from the longest corners. It is avoid overlapping of the turf and will strengthen the roots after a few days.

4. Cut away the excess turf.
Cute away the excess turf to make ensure neatly placed lawn turfs. If any of the edges become scorched or come apart when you have already laid them, you may cover them using small amounts of coarse yellow sand or 'top dressing mix'.

5. Maintenance.
Don't forget to constantly water and maintain your lawn. Pull out any weeds, moss or stray grass. Constantly check to see if the new turf have adapt to its new environment. Be sure to monitor your lawn and note the developments your lawn is making.
