Avoiding injuries is an important consideration when it comes to basketball training. There are so many types of injuries that can occur in basketball, or even in training, that it's something to be aware of. Torn muscles, sprained ankles or back problems, for example, can put you out of commission for an entire season. Yet training the right way can reduce the chances that you'll be injured. The first thing you should do before any type of training is stretching, and you should also stretch after your workouts. This doesn't have to be extreme, as even five minutes of stretching improves your flexibility and helps prevent muscle injuries. The other way to stay safe, both in training and during games, is to pay attention to what you're doing and how you're moving at all times. The main qualities you need for basketball training is dedication and discipline. You should do everything you can to show up for all practice sessions and always stick to your training regimen. You should put all of your energy into drills and training exercises, as these are what help you develop your skills and improve your conditioning. If you are serious about basketball, you have to make practice and training a priority in your life. While natural talent can certainly be helpful, it is really your attitude towards training that is the biggest factor in how much progress you make in your game.

The challenge with basketball training is that you must condition your body as well as train in the correct way so you can competently play the game. Train with handling the ball with "go around the world" drills, and that is simply moving the ball around your body. Ok, for ball handling do the figure 8; stand in a wide stance and move the ball smoothly around your legs in a figure eight pattern for dexterity. Your degree of improvement will be determined by your commitment to basketball training and willingness to work hard. The greatest challenges will not be the physical kind, but rather it is the mental game and challenges to remain focused on training.
