What Is Hydroseeding?
- Hydroseeding is the seeding method of mixing seeds, fertilizer, mulch and water together into an agitated slurry that is evenly applied to an area with a pressure hose. The hydroseed method is ideal for large areas and hillside slopes that need grass seeding. Hydroseeding germinates seeds quickly, because the mulch in the mixture is saturated with water that keeps the seeds moist for rapid germination. The addition of fertilizer to the slurry coats the seeds, so once germinated, the seeds have access to the nutrients to develop strong roots fast. In five to seven days after hydroseeding, you will see grass sprouting, and in three to four weeks, you can mow your new lawn.
