- Blogspot/Blogger is owned by Google and lets you log into the online journal application using your Google username and password. Blogspot/Blooger also lets you access Google Reader, a service that lets you subscribe to your favorite websites and receive new content from those websites when it becomes available.
- You can also create an online journal using Blogger.com and host it on your own server or another Web server other than Blogspot.com. This is handy if you want to use the pre-set templates and features of Blogger.com but you already have a Web hosting server or you want to host the online journal on an internal computer network. Online journals created with Blogger.com are coded in HyperText Markup Language for ease in copying your online journal to any application that supports HTML. To access your posts HTML coding, click the "Edit HTML" tab after you complete your post but before publishing it. You can now copy the coding to another HTML program or a text editor.
- To create a new online journal using Blogger.com, navigate your computer's Internet browser to the "What's a Blog?: link (blogger.com/tour_start.g) and click the "Create A Blog?" button. Follow the on-screen prompts to create a Blogger.com account, design your online journal and create your first post. If you already have a Blogger.com account, navigate to your online journal's Website address and click the "New Post" link in the upper right-hand corner of your online journal. Enter a title for your post, insert pictures, words, videos and anything else you want in your post.
- Once you have your online journal post complete, including pictures, videos and any other elements, click the "Publish Post" button to send your post to your online Blogspot.com journal. The transfer of your post to the Blogspot.com server is done immediately after you publish the post. If you need to edit your post, click the pencil icon next to the date at the end of your post. Once you are done editing, click the "Publish Post" button again.
