Multi-level marketers will all have heard of buying opportunity seeker leads or have bought them themselves to grow their business.
If you are a newcomer to MLM businesses, you should know what it means so you can make an informed decision about it.
What are opportunity seeker leads There are businesses that sell opportunity seeker leads which are, simply put, names and contact information of people who are 'said to be' seeking for a business opportunity and are reportedly people who have the money to invest on a business.
I a lot of times refer to them as the sugar coated chocolate donut ones with sprinkles...
but seriously, many businesses that sell these types of leads claim that these names are 'fresh' and they have just expressed their interest for a business in the past 24 hours.
Furthermore, it is also reportedly those who are on this lead list are those who willingly gave their information at the time when they are at home to answer calls regarding an opportunity.
Now, here are a several of questions every marketer should ask themselves before buying these types of leads: Are these really fresh leads?Does being fresh make a difference? What did these people do to get on that list? Were these people really looking for a business ? And...
Will buying opportunity seeker leads really work to grow your business? Why opportunity seeker leads do not work These types of leads do not work because it's a surefire to waste money.
You usually pay several dollars for fresh lead, which adds up to a large amount you will spend to grow you business.
These people are more likely to be interested in a freebie (which is what is usually promised) than in setting up their home business.
If they are looking for a business opportunity, they would actively look for one rather than wait for a call.
Opportunity seeker leads are said to have the money to invest on a business.
But why would the lead broker share that kind of information to anyone.
There is also no guarantee that these leads are fresh or have just expressed their interest the past 24 hours.
There's no knowing that these names were not part of an archive of targets in the past unless you ask them yourself when the business who sold the leads called them and what did the people do to get on that list.
Ask other marketers who have experienced buying opportunity seeker leads and they would tell you how many actual leads were at home at the time that they are 'supposed' to be there waiting for your call.
Chances are these leads are uninterested and even irritated that you called.
Rare are the situations when any person would want to listen to a marketing pitch that they did not opt into in the first place.
Yes, the business who sells these opportunity seeker leads claim that these leads opted in but, if you think about it, how many people are really eager to listen to another sales pitch? And, if they are interested in any way, don't you think that they would likely call, visit a website and do some active research? Another thing that is not good about opportunity seeker leads is that you will have no way of verifying that the company who sold these names to you did not and will not sell it anyone else in the near future.
I am not saying that there will be no sale or recruit that will come out of opportunity seeker leads.
What I believe in is that these are not really leads they are portrayed to be because most people do not readily welcome a business proposal by being included in a list of names.
What every marketer must do is to actively target people, who have a need or want or desire for your product and services, and once you know you have the right person of front of your, then plan to speak with them about your business opportunity in a manner customized to their needs and interests.
