- 1). Turn off the breaker switch for the garbage disposal at the breaker box before attempting to install the Insinkerator Pro 333-9. Unfasten the drain trap from the disposal discharge tube with a pair of adjustable pliers.
- 2). Place a flat-head screwdriver into the side of the mounting lug on the mounting ring, and loosen the mounting ring with the screwdriver. Remove the disposal from the mounting ring, and turn the unit over to remove the electrical plate.
- 3). Unfasten the screws that hold the cover plate onto the bottom of the disposal with a screwdriver, and take the cover plate off the unit. Detach the electrical wires from the disposal wiring inside the disposal, and take the electrical wires out of the unit.
- 4). Unfasten the mounting screws on the old mounting bracket with a screwdriver, and lift the snap ring off the mounting bracket with the screwdriver. Remove the old sink flange from the sink drain, and clean away any remaining debris or putty with a putty knife and damp wash cloth.
- 5). Lay a 1/2-inch-diameter rope of plumber's putty around the lip of the sink drain, and press the new sink flange onto the putty. Place the new fiber gasket and backup ring on the flange from underneath the sink, and slide the new mounting assembly over the gasket and ring.
- 6). Secure the new mounting assembly by tightening the bolts on the mounting bracket with a screwdriver until the flange is seated flat against the top of the sink drain. Position the new disposal against the mounting ring with the drain hole facing the drainpipe behind the unit, and turn the mounting ring on the flange to lock the mounting bracket in place.
- 7). Remove the cover plate on the bottom of the new disposal with a screwdriver, and fasten the electrical wiring that goes to the circuit breaker to the wiring inside the disposal. Secure the wires with plastic fasteners and reattach the cover plate to the bottom of the disposal.
- 8). Place the metal flange over the discharge tube on the back of the disposal, and attach the rubber gasket to the discharge outlet. Line up the discharge tube with the drain trap, and connect the tube to the drainpipe with the adjustable pliers.
- 9). Lock the disposal in place with the wrench that was provided with the new unit, and turn the water to verify there are no leaks in the system. Turn on the circuit breaker for the disposal at the breaker box.
