Even though smart phones become popular in the 21st century Simon was considered as world's first Smartphone, created by a joint venture between IBM and BellSouth on 1993.
It has been launched in which combines the features of mobile phone, pager, PDA and Fax machine.
The major applications of Simon include calendar, address book, world clock, calculator, notepad, e-mail and games.
But this doesn't have touch screen to play with.
Then in the mid of 1990's Nokia and Palm Inc started heating up by introducing the Smartphone's based on Java and palm OS.
And these versions of Smartphone were very costly to afford by normal users.
At 21st century the Smartphone's have become incredibly powerful.
Companies like Apple, Nokia and RIM (Research In Motion) started releasing their advanced Smartphone versions using iOS, Symbian, Java OS, S40, S60 etc.
Apple is who changed the Smartphone industry by introducing Apple iphone in 2007.
Symbian OS, which shares around 37% of Smartphone sales (by 2010 Q3), are still used in most of the Nokia smart phones.
After introduction of Android by Google many of the Smartphone companies started using because it's free and non-proprietary.
Due to open source and works equivalent to iOS / Windows OS android OS has been used by many Smartphone and tablet companies.
Android-based Smartphone sales share around 25% of Smartphone sales (2010 Q3), which beats the Apple sales of 17%.
But that doesn't stop the enhancements on iOS.

2 includes multitasking which is predominant on its latest releases.
Windows mobile sales are expected to increase after Windows 7 mobiles.

But still Brew Mobiles are taken in consideration for some mobile app development.
