- 1). Download and install the music-copying program, and double-click the icon on your PC's desktop to run it. For Macs, open the Applications folder in Finder and double-click the icon to run the program.
- 2). Plug the wide end of the USB cable into the old iPod, and plug the other end into your computer's USB port. Plug the new iPod's cable into the new iPod and then into your computer's additional USB port.
- 3). Click the arrow next to the iPod tabs in the program's sidebar, and click the arrow next to the new iPod's tab in the program's sidebar to display the iPod's separate media sections.
- 4). Select the "Audio" or "Music" tab underneath the old iPod tab.
- 5). Click the song(s) you want to transfer in the main program window and hold down the "Shift" key on your keyboard to select multiple tracks.
- 6). Drag and drop the audio files to the "Music" tab underneath the new iPod tab.
- 7). Click the "OK" button on the dialog box once the transfer is complete, and right-click the iPod tabs and select "Eject" from the pop-up menu.
