- 1). Open the computer's Web browser and navigate to the iTunes download page. Download and install the free application onto the computer. Once the application is finished installing, double-click the application icon to launch iTunes.
- 2). Click the "iTunes Store" option beneath the "Store" heading in the iTunes menu bar. Click the "Sign In" button, followed by the "Create New Account" button in the new window that opens.
- 3). Click the "Continue" button; read the iTunes terms and conditions and Apple's privacy policy. Place a check mark next to the "I have read and agree to these terms and conditions" option, and click the "Continue" button.
- 4). Enter your email address and password in the spaces provided, select a security question, provide its answer and enter your date of birth. Click the "Continue" button when you are finished.
- 5). Enter the required billing and personal information to finish creating your iTunes account.
- 6). Press the "Lock" button on the top of the iPhone to turn the device on. You will be prompted with a "Connect to iTunes" screen. Connect the device to the computer via the USB connection cable that came with it.
- 7). Read through your carrier's customer agreement, and accept the terms of the agreement. Click the "Continue" button to begin the activation process. This process can take several minutes. Once the activation process is finished, you will be prompted to disconnect the iPhone from the computer.
- 8). Disconnect the iPhone from the computer and reconnect it using the USB connection cable. ITunes automatically syncs with the device, completing the iPhone setup process.
