- 1). Open iTunes.
- 2). Click the "Edit" option (or "iTunes" option on a Mac computer) at the very top of iTunes. A drop-down menu will open.
- 3). Choose "Preferences" at the bottom of the menu. A window will appear.
- 4). Click the "General" tab at the top left part of the window. Click on "Import Settings," located in the center of the window. A smaller window will open.
- 5). Click the drop-down menu next to the "Import Using" heading at the top of the small window. Choose "MP3 Encoder" inside that menu. Click "OK" at the bottom of the small window. Click "OK" at the bottom of the "Preferences" window.
- 6). Click "Music" underneath the "Library" menu. The songs in your iTunes library will be listed in the middle of the program window.
- 7). Click the iTunes song title you wish to convert to MP3. That song title will be highlighted.
- 8). Click "Advanced" at the top of iTunes. A drop-down menu will open. Click "Create MP3 Version" inside the menu. The iTunes song will be converted to MP3, and the file That will be saved in your iTunes library and the iTunes folder on your computer.
