- 1). Jack the rear of the tractor up -- lifting the wheels off the ground 4 to 6 inches -- and rest the axle on the jack stands, one on each side of the tractor. Leave the jack in place in case the axle slips off one of the stands.
- 2). Grip the retainer wire located next to the wheel wall. It is shaped like a G, but when it is fastened around the hub it simply looks like a C. The arm of the wire is hidden inside a hole in the hub. Pull the C portion off the hub, then pull the arm out of the hole.
- 3). Remove the lugs from the wheel. Remove the wheel and tire. With a socket set, unscrew the hub nut two turns. Do not remove the hub nut. The hub is under pressure. At any time it can spring free at a high velocity if it is not held in place by the hub nut.
- 4). Back the four screws out of the brake drum. Remove the drum and the brake pad. Remove the hub nut. Place the feet of the jaw puller behind the lug stud plate and screw the pulling rod into the hub, pulling the hub from the axle.
