- Travel trailers spend most of their life being stored, so it is essential that it is properly prepared to prevent premature aging and damage. A trailer cover will protect the trailer from the harmful effects of the sun, rain and freezing temperatures and will prolong the life of the roof and windows. Parking the trailer on a hard, dry surface and covering it will prevent dry rot. Drain all holding tanks and fill plumbing with antifreeze to protect the plumbing system from damage due to freezing temperatures in the winter.
- Maintaining the mechanical systems of your Aerolite trailer will ensure your heating, cooling and plumbing systems work properly when you're camping. The furnace and air conditioning system should be cleaned periodically to remove dust, spider webs and debris. Change any furnace and air filters within the trailer regularly to allow maximum air flow and filtration. Inspect the plumbing system for leaks seasonally and repair as necessary. Flush holding tanks with a cleaning agent periodically to prevent harmful algae and bacteria from forming in them.
- The exterior of your trailer needs to be washed and waxed just like any other vehicle to remove dirt and maintain its luster. Inspect all windows, doors and openings, and use an all-purpose waterproof caulk to seal any spaces. Oil the hinges of the doors, storage compartments and awnings along with any steps and jack plates to prevent corrosion. Place a plastic storage bag over the wire harness when not in use to prevent debris from entering the plug. Inspect and clean the electrical circuit board monthly and replace any bad fuses as necessary.
- Maintaining the inside of your Aerolite is similar to maintaining your house, as it features the same style cabinets, beds and furniture. Vacuuming all floors will keep your trailer clean and reduce the amount of bugs that enter due to food particles being present. Place moth balls or similar products within all closets to prevent moth damage to your stored items. Clean and disinfect the bathroom, refrigerator and stove before storing to prevent bacteria growth.
