Set aside the bowl while you prepare the spices.
Seed the green chilies before chopping them together with the onion and the ginger root. Keep the onion slices fairly thick. Crush the garlic cloves and add all the spices to the food processor. Blend until the mix achieves a uniformly smooth consistency. Pour the spice mixture all over the prawns and the lemon zest and toss until the prawns are uniformly coated with the marinade.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about four hours to allow the marinade to permeate the tender flesh of the prawns. Heat the bbq grills to medium heat and brush oil over the cooking grate. Transfer the marinated king prawns onto the skewers and begin with the grilling. Cook for four to five minutes, turning once, until they become golden brown.

Use serving platters shaped like clams or oyster shells to highlight the oceanic theme. Decorate the serving platters by adding wavy lines of sauces or herbs that resemble seaweed.
