- 1). Use the front brake to keep the motorcycle in place while you're starting the engine and shifting into first gear.
- 2). Switch to the foot brake to stay in place while operating the throttle with your right hand.
- 3). Open the throttle a bit for increased power.
- 4). Let up on the rear brake as your engine starts to slow down. This means it's starting to take hold.
- 5). Release the clutch gently. If it as popped too abruptly, you can pull a wheelie or the engine can stall.
