- 1). Purchase the desired size of opalescent glass or select the glass that you like and have it cut to your specification. Choose a milky glass that allows some transparency and decide on a color from the wide selection that are available. Pick either a smooth or granite texture depending on your project and select the density from transparent to very dense. Clean the glass completely before commencing your stained glass project.
- 2). Use etched glass which is achieved by applying an etching cream to your plain sheet of glass. Clean the glass thoroughly with a clean lint-free cloth. Follow the instructions and apply a coating of etching cream with a paintbrush over the entire surface of the glass. Check that the cream is smooth and even. Allow it to dry for the recommended time. Put on rubber gloves and holding the glass under the tap, rinse the glass with warm running water to remove all traces of the etching cream. Dry the glass completely and proceed with your project.
- 3). Purchase glass from a company that specializes in stained glass products and select a cobblestone or ripple-textured glass which would give you less transparency and more privacy. Choose from a variety of colors such as amber or white.
