- 1). Review AHDI materials for a better understanding of the organization. At the official AHDI website, select "Professional Practices" at the top of the page to read industry news relating to the group.
- 2). Select the appropriate membership level. People enrolled in medical transcription training programs, corporate entities and certain additional health care personnel are eligible for membership. Fees vary depending on the level chosen.
- 3). Complete your membership enrollment. Submit an electronic application by selecting the "Join Today" link underneath the desired membership level. Download and print applications for individual membership by visiting the upper left corner of the site and selecting "Member Center," "Join AHDI" and "Download an Application." Use information located at the bottom of the application to submit forms via fax or postal service. Pay fees by check or credit card.
- 4). Print a copy of AHDI professional guidelines, located underneath the Professional Practices link at the top of the page. Familiarize yourself with the group practices.
- 5). Talk with other AHDI members and discuss incorporating organizational practices into the workplace. Find other medical transcriptionists who live or work nearby with the AHDI locator. Select "Get Connected," "Find MTs Near You" and "What Is An AHDI Component?" at the top of the page.
