- 1). Drive the Lexus onto a set of front-end ramps to allow room to work under the vehicle. With the front raised, it will help to increase the speed of fluid drainage as well. Set the parking brake to prevent the Lexus from rolling off the ramps while you are under it.
- 2). Remove the engine skid plate. To do so, remove the 10 mm bolts that secure it to the bottom of the engine with a socket and ratchet. There are 11 bolts in total.
- 3). Locate the ATF (automatic transmission fluid) drainage hose secured to the bottom of the radiator on the driver's side of the Lexus.
- 4). Place a funnel into a container and make sure it fits under the ATF drainage hose.
- 5). Remove the clamp that connects the hose to the radiator and turn the outlet so the fluid drains into the container. You can use a 3/8-inch diameter hose instead of a funnel if you do not have room for a funnel stacked on top of the container.
- 6). Start the vehicle and leave it in park. A running engine helps to accelerate the drainage process and ensures all the fluid drains from the transmission. Do not place the transmission in gear as doing so risks damaging the transmission. Drain approximately two quarts of fluid into the container.
- 7). Add two quarts of ATF fluid (Toyota Type IV ATF) to the transmission. To do so, place a funnel into the dipstick tube of the transmission and add two quarts of fluid into the funnel.
- 8). Repeat Steps 6 and 7 until the fluid that drains from the hose is the same shade of red as the fluid you are putting back into the transmission. In all, the transmission holds 8.7 quarts.
- 9). Reconnect the hose to the radiator and place the dipstick back into the dipstick tube.

Reconnect the engine skid plate using the original 10 mm bolts. - 11
Back the Lexus off the ramps and park it on level ground. Cycle the transmission through each gear, including reverse. With the motor idling and in park, check the dipstick to ensure the transmission has the proper level of ATF fluid. Add fluid as needed.
