- 1). Cover the top of the work table with cardboard.
- 2). Place a piece of duct board on top of the cardboard, with the metallic vapor barrier facing up. Put on a particulate respirator and safety glasses.
- 3). Mark to parallel edges of the duct board with a tape measure and permanent marker.
- 4). Press the short leg of the drywall square to the side of the duct board. Slide the square along the duct board to align the long leg of the square with the marks you placed on the vapor barrier.
- 5). Set the smooth edge of the duct board knife at the side of the duct board farthest from you. Pull the knife toward you while applying pressure to the surface of the work table. Make the cut in one pull to avoid releasing excess fiberglass from the material.
