Online surveys are pretty basic, the first thing that they want to know is your age, location, gender and demographic.
They do their research based on a target market.
They usually don't want all opinions, just certain ones.
A good example would be a new appliance they want to see if you like the proposed ads.
They do not really want to sample people that are not home owners, because these are the people that wouldn't normally buy a home appliance such as a washing machine or fridge.
Online survey's almost always start out by asking you who you are and if you fit into their surveys.
If you do not, generally you will be disqualified from the survey after 5 - 10 questions.
Many of the companies I have worked with will give you some sort of minor prize, such as a sweepstakes entry or sometimes a few cents for your time.
If you do qualify for the survey, you will know because they will start to get into more detailed questions about the product.
The often will ask you questions on whether you like the design, look, sound or feel of something.
They will show you pictures and words and ask you what you associate with them.
They will want to know if their symbol brings out certain feelings and emotions in you.
They will continue to ask these type of simple questions to get a good idea if the marketing or advertising they are using is eliciting the correct responses.
After a few minutes of asking these questions, the survey will close out and they will pay you/deposit your cash, points, credit, etc...
into your account.
It's as simple as that.
After you finish the survey, you can jump right into the next one.
Product testing surveys act very similar but the timeline is a little different.
For a product testing survey you will log into the survey and answer the basic questions as in any other survey, but usually in the summary of what the survey is about they mention about testing a product, however not always, some surveys will surprise you and just ask if you want to test the product near the end.
After you fill out, usually a very quick survey, they will ask for your address and ship you the item, the items are usually brand name products.
In the box that they ship the item to you they will usually place the instructions which you need to follow.
Generally they give you about a week to test the product, and then you log back into the computer and follow the instructions for the product survey.
They will ask you all kinds of questions about how you liked the product and if you could see yourself buying it.
These types of surveys almost always come with big cash prizes at the end as well as keeping sometimes expensive consumer items.
I once made $25 dollars to test 2 $25 dollar razors with replacement blades about $20 a piece.
It was worth about $90 dollars.
It was awesome, good luck, I hope this explains a bit more what you can expect from the surveys.
Have a good one.
