House Plants Safe For Cats - Are They Worth the Fuss?

Lately I have been hearing lots of talk about house plants safe for cats and as a cat lover this has peaked my interested.
After all, I love my cats just as much as the next person does.
OK, lets me honest.
I probably love my cats a little bit more than the average person but that is beside the point.
I may be a cat fanatic but cat safety is cat safety and if a cat's health is at stake then we need to know about it right? So, I did a little digging to find out what all the hubbub was all about.
Cats Like to Nibble Cat people know cats like to nibble on house plants.
If this is a shock to you, then I suspect you have not had cats very long.
Every cat owner knows and has seen their favorite feline gnaw on some grass from time to time.
Cats do this to induce vomiting.
Usually, this is done to cough up a hairball but that is a whole other story.
Hopefully, your cat is not nibbling on anything poisonous but if your cat is then you can have problems.
The problem is most people don't know what plants are poisonous.
You can go to the ASPCA for a complete list, but here is a short list of common house plants that are a no-no for cats.
o English Ivy o Aloe Vera o Elephant Ears o Lily o Tulip o Marigold o Marijuana Decorate with Safe House Plants Cat owners can decorate their homes with bright and colorful flowers.
Just because some house plants are poisonous to cats doesn't mean you can't have plants at all.
o The Boston ferns add deep dark greens, grow wonderfully indoors and out.
o The spider plant hangs nicely in corners and is great for sharing with friends o The Christmas cactus adds festivity and color to the holidays without adding the worries of accidental harm to pets.
Give Your Cat a Place to Nibble Since your cat is going nibble, you will want to provide your cat a safe place to do so.
When you think about it, even the "safe" grass in the backyard is not even safe.
The grass may have pesticides and fertilizer you do not want your cat ingesting.
You want your cat to have the best and safest plants available to your cat.
In order to give your cat its own garden, you will need a heavy-duty pot.
It should be about seven inches wide and seven inches long.
It should be deep enough to not tip over.
Four inches should be enough.
Then plant some seeds in the pot.
You should be able to find some seeds at your local pet store or online.
Normally, the seeds are labeled as cat grass or cat garden.
Sometimes you can buy it already started and growing.
Either way, you will be thankful for house plants safe for cats in your home.
